How Gelugpa tradition relates to Guru Rinpoche
1. Lama Tsongkhapa was considered emanation of Guru Rinpoche (as well),
2. Ra Lotsawa whos Yamantaka tradition is practiced in Gelugpa was himself master of Vajrakilaya and Chemchok Heruka,
3. 1st Panchen Lama was practitioner of Hayagriwa Sangdrub (Kyerganpa tradition) which is terma. He also wrote extensive commentaries and ritual texts related to this terma, including Dorje Legpa (Damchien Garwang Ngangpo) ritual and Pehar ritual,

V Dalai Lama was terton himself (considered as emanation of King Trisong Detsen) and discovered terma Sangwa Gyachen (Wyl. gsang ba rgya can) 'Bearing the Seal of Secrecy' composed of twenty-five sections dealing with distinct visions, including the Tukdrup Yang Nying Kundü sadhana of 8 forms of Guru Rinpoche. He was also student of the Mindrolling Terchen,
5. One of main yidams of Sera Jey Monastery is terma Hayagriva Tamdrin Yangsang,
6. XIII Dalai Lama was a disciple of Terton Sogyal, since that time Namgyal monastery (which is personal monastery of Dalai Lama) performs periodically Vajrakilaya drubchen.
7. Present XIV Dalai Lama is also student of late Dilgo Kyentse Rinpoche and late Trulshik Rinpoche. He engages himself in some Nyingmapa practices and has vast experience in Dzogchen.
Please don’t let sectarian people tell you otherwise. Guru Rinpoche is venerated in Gelugpa tradition as well.
